Halfway through the filming of Season 7, writers were unaware of the renewal of Outlander Season 8. And while the upcoming Season was supposed to start filming early this year, the infamous strike has put everything on hold.

Is Outlander Renewed For Season 8?
It is indeed renewed for Season 8. In January 2023, Starz announced the arrival of their upcoming Season, yet the show’s finale. However, before you wallow in disappointment, this isn’t the end of the Outlander universe.
In fact, soon enough, makers will come back with a prequel series.
This prequel series will primarily focus on Jamie’s parents’ (Ellen and Brian) love story.
When Is Outlander Season 8 Releasing?
Unfortunately, the release date of Season 8 is not announced yet.
And rightfully so, as the show is still airing Season 7 (part one), which will end by August 2023. Then you will get the second half of Season 7 by the end of 2023.
Therefore, it’s safe to assume Season 8 will release sometime in 2025.
However, remember that the AFTRA Strike is still ongoing, so the upcoming Season might take longer than I anticipated.

What Can You Expect From Outlander Season 8?
Since Season 7 is not out entirely, there is not much we can anticipate. All I know is there is enough source material (aka, books) for makers to cover.
